The Tree Film/Movie Shooting Location

The film/movie "The Tree" was filmed near Boonah in August 2009 and opened very successfully in over 220 cinemas throughout France.  It opened in Australia on 30th Sept.

It features the lives of Dawn (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her four children as they are thrown off balance after the sudden death of her husband Peter.

Yet unexpected solace arrives when eight-year-old daughter Simone (Morgana Davies) believes her father is living in the Moreton Bay Fig tree outside their house.

But the family’s new-found comfort is tested, as Dawn meets a new man and the tree’s roots begin to infiltrate the house.

The Tree shooting location showcases the beautiful and unique flora and fauna from this area and the wild landscape sets a backdrop for a powerful Australian story, featuring a 200 year old fig tree.

The shooting location was eventually discovered by a location scout, after a two year search, near Boonah, in the heart of the spectacular Scenic Rim in South East Queensland (SEQ) Australia.

Many of the people of Boonah were involved in many ways with the filming. From providing the Tree itself ( Margaret Foote) to accommodation for the stars and crew and music lessons for the children.
