The Tree Movie

You may have already heard about the film, The Tree, which filmed in Boonah in August 2009 and opened very successfully last week in over 220 cinemas throughout France. It features the lives of Dawn (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her four children as they are thrown off balance after the sudden death of her husband Peter. Yet unexpected solace arrives when eight-year-old daughter Simone (Morgana Davies) believes her father is living on in the fig tree outside their house. But the family’s new-found comfort is tested, as Dawn meets a new man and the tree’s roots begin to infiltrate the house… The Tree showcases the beautiful and unique flora and fauna from your area and the wild landscape sets a backdrop for a powerful Australian story, featuring a 200 year old fig tree which was eventually discovered by a French location scout after a two year search in Boonah. Australian release close to the end of September.
